We are on the road again. Travelling even as my country and the world is being buffeted by strong headwinds.
I nearly missed by connection in Abu Dhabi as the airline was threatening to put me on another flight due to the absolute chaos caused by the virus. I ran like one possessed to make the flight while masked travellers moved out of the way.
Meanwhile, I made a few other connections. A woman in full burkha, clinking with bangles newly married, eyes shining as she travelled to join her husband and start a new life in a strange land. We spoke of hope and I wished her the happiest of new beginnings. A fully bearded gentleman with other devout signs of his religion told me of his roots in a far far land, and how he lives within metres of the Swami Narayan temple. We spoke of a topic that unites us all - the weather - and he wished me all the best for my travels in his home city.
I so wish that we could wear masks that keep hatred out. Refuse to be infected. Grow strong in love. Embrace when our paths cross.
